I got to this place in the dark hoping for a colorful winter sunrise. Yet, the clouds never broke and the scene remained pretty dismal looking. Then I heard loud barking and howling in the distance that told me I had some very welcome company. I hiked over the snow-covered dunes until I was able to catch a glimpse of him. Wonder if he was out there waiting for the sunrise too. Just two lonely souls exchanging howls on a silent and frigid winter morning in the middle of the desert. My fingers on the shutter release were turning purple but my friend here really warmed my heart.

I really like the black touches in an overall white scene. The animal's presence is indeed a nice touch though it would have been better for me to see it coming towards instead of leaving. I know though that we work with what we get

Amazing how something apparently so cold can warm your heart so much. It's not something that I felt after reading your comment, it was my original response to that scene and your vision of it: simple, minimal, elegant and so very tender.

I hear ya. I post and sometimes hear silence for a day or so. Im sure that a pro like you will bring in the comments in short order. I didn't look at how long it had been posted, just surprised I was the first.
