Nest of the Thunderbird by GuyTal Nest of the Thunderbird by GuyTal
A small desert garden flourishes in a protected sandstone bowl. The light and weather on this morning were some of the most spectacular I had seen in the canyon country, and I remember the sense of awe when coming upon this scene.

Nice shot with great color. It took a second to notice the rainbow remnant in the background.

The green looks like an eye in an wrinkly animal. I think nature is beautiful, Too bad humans are destroying it.

This is amazing!

I can see why you would be awestruck by the weather. It looks so energetic, sun rays and a raibow with black skies behind and it all looks ful of motion :wow: I wish we got weather like that in England.

Beautiful contrast in colours. I love it :D

Is that a rainbow I see in the center?

Yes it is. A small thunderstorm was moving in and made for some very interesting light.

This is an amazing image you have captured Guy! I just have one question, the rainbow in the top center of the frame, is that an actual rainbow or a trick of light off of the lens?

Thanks!
That is an actual rainbow from a little spring thunderstorm over the cliffs.

Thank you! This is in Grand-Staircase Escalante National Monument. Perhaps my favorite place on the planet.

High on the list. I failed to take advantage of living in slc for 3 years. Now I have to make a trip back...though Kauai isnt a bad spot :-P

I'll say :)
SLC is a great hub - close enough to a lot of beautiful places. Still a city, though.

Still a city...but a small one...at least from my standards. We'll see if I can make it work on Kauai and then time to pull the trigger...although I told myself I'd move anywhere for a job w/ a camera. Exciting I say. Hope all is well that way

You've acheived amazing depth with this shot. The clouds are a classic example of warm colours coming forward and cool colours going back. Excellent.

I love the texture on the sandstone and how it adds movement to the shot. The colors are beautiful as well. :)
