This full grown cottonwood prospers in the depth of a huge sandstone bowl, sheltered from the elements and invisible to all but those who dare scale the large dome it's hidden in.

Sheltered by *GuyTal Guy Tal's work really needed no introduction and this shot, already having appeared in the August 2008 issue of Popular Photography is stunning! Guy is one of the best there is today and this image showcases what every nature photographer chases, the light. Captured beautifully with an incredible contrast of color, this scenes represents what truly is nature photography in it's purest form! (Featured by ^kkart)

I already knew this photo from photo.net but I just have to say I really like it. I love how the tree stands out in the lake in soltitude underneath the gloomy sky. When you have a closer look to the photograph you see a nice much lighter spot of sky in the centre of the horizon!
